LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A Green Valley High School teacher has been arrested on multiple sex crime charges after allegedly sexually assaulting a student and getting her pregnant.
Anthony Coffield, 35, is accused of sexually assaulting a student after luring her to the school’s theater by email, according to a Henderson police report. The student was two days away from graduation and became pregnant after the assault.
Coffield has been teaching with the Clark County School District since February 2012, starting as a substitute before becoming the theater teacher at Spring Valley High School and then moving to Green Valley High School in August 2022.
Former students describe pattern of behavior
A former Spring Valley High School student who asked FOX5 to withhold her identity said she was Coffield’s theater student all four years.
“A lot of us really looked up to him and wanted his approval and a lot of us did almost anything to get it,” she said. “I would say even for myself, like I would have done anything to be lead in one of his productions.”
The former student said inappropriate behavior began during her sophomore year.
“He looked at me and said that I was very attractive and that I was very beautiful,” she said. “On occasions, he would like to touch our shoulders or our heads or, you know, say something that was off-putting. He would stay after school with girls all the time. I mean, I was one of them.”

After graduation, she said Coffield started sending her text messages through a school app called “Remind,” including messages saying “I always knew someone would want to kidnap you,” “You just haven’t talked to me in awhile and you keep popping up on Facebook,” and “Had a weird dream last night so I’m checking up.”
“He didn’t want anyone to know that we were friends,” she said. “I had so many conversations with him that probably could have been flagged and weren’t.”
Investigation ongoing
Coffield’s arrest followed a month-long investigation coordinated with the Clark County District Attorney’s Office. A former Green Valley student said her friends were interviewed.
“There was a set of girls that I always knew where his favorites and he always was really oddly close with them,” she said. “He had such a grip on other girls in that class that it could have happened to anybody.”
The student said she felt targeted by Coffield and, like four of her friends, dropped out of theater because of him.
“Losing a senior year musical was like, heartbreaking but he was just like this force of evil,” she said. “Anytime I was around him, I felt just immediately uncomfortable.”
FOX5 asked how many student or parent complaints had been filed against Coffield. The Clark County School District said it cannot comment on individual personnel matters due to privacy law.
Coffield is currently being held without bond in the Clark County Detention Center. He is due back in court Monday for a bail hearing.
The school sent a letter to parents after Coffield’s arrest to make them aware of the situation and noted that Henderson Police are leading the investigation.
Henderson Police told FOX5 Thursday night this is an ongoing investigation.
