LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The man arrested after allegedly assaulting a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officer during a disturbance at Planet Hollywood Casino has been identified, according to the arrest report.

Court documents identified Jose Aviles, 33, who was reportedly taken into custody around 1:15 a.m. Jan. 18 on Las Vegas Boulevard at East Paris Avenue following the incident.

Officers at the scene discovered a large, hostile crowd engaged in disruptive behavior, including throwing bottles, yelling and pushing, the arrest report detailed. While officers attempted to detain individuals, Aviles became involved in a physical altercation with one officer. During the encounter, Aviles applied a rear-naked choke hold to the officer’s neck while the officer was restraining another person, police said.

Aviles refused to comply with multiple verbal commands and continued to resist, authorities said. After warning him, officers deployed their taser.

Paramedics evaluated Aviles at the scene following his arrest. No medical issues were reported.

Aviles was transported to the Clark County Detention Center, where he was booked on the following charges: battery on a protected person, obstructing a public officer, and resisting a public officer.
