LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Clark County School District will present its proposed budget for the 2026-2027 school year at a Board of Trustees meeting Thursday night.

The district projects it will have about 35,000 full-time employees by the end of June, including nearly 19,000 classroom teachers. By June 2027, the district projects just over 30,000 employees and about 18,000 classroom teachers — a reduction of about 1,000 classroom teachers.

The reductions come as student enrollment continues to decline. The district had 325,000 students in the 2018-2019 school year. That number was down about 40,000 students after last school year and is projected to be down another 10,000 students by the end of June 2027.

A decrease of nearly 5,000 students from the 2026 to the 2027 budget impacts overall revenue projections, decreasing funding by $32.9 million.

New revenue source

Next school year’s budget includes the establishment of CCSD’s new Safety Enforcement Fund, with estimated revenues of approximately $15 million to account for potential CCSD Police Department-issued citation revenue.

Stop arm cameras are expected to be added to CCSD buses. Drivers that pass school buses when the stop sign is out will be sent tickets.

The Clark County School District is required per Nevada law to file a tentative budget no later than April 15 for next school year.
