LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a homicide in the southwest valley Tuesday morning.

The incident happened in the 9000 block of W Rochelle Avenue near Flamingo Road and south Fort Apache Road.

According to LVMPD, around 5:45 a.m., a 911 caller reported shots fired and believed that someone had been shot.

Officers from the Summerline Area Command responded to the area and located 2 elderly woman, where one was suffering from a gunshot wound.

Officers provided aid until medical personnel arrived. The victim died on the scene, said LVMPD.

The 2 elderly women were reportedly on a morning walk.

A man wearing all black approached the pair and demanded all their property. According to police, at some point, the suspect shot at one of the women and fled the scene.

Officials believe this was an isolated incident. LVMPD say there is no danger to the public.
