LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Culinary Academy of Las Vegas held a ribbon-cutting this morning for its expanded North Las Vegas campus.

The facility grew from 40,000 to 55,000 square feet, meaning the school can nearly double its training capacity to about 4,000 students a year.

New kitchens, classrooms, and hands-on hospitality labs are part of the upgrade. The expansion is designed to pipe more workers into the resorts and restaurants that drive the local economy.

“It’s important for our facility to grow here at the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas because Las Vegas is growing,” said Bobbi Damrow, CEO of the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas. “And even as Las Vegas diversifies, hospitality is going to grow right along with it. So we want to make sure that we are ready and riding right along with the growth pattern.”

The academy also offers job placement help and long-term career pathways for people across southern Nevada.
