LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — UNLV will begin a national search for a new head coach for its men’s golf program after Jean-Paul Hebert left the Rebels to take the top job at Baylor University, UNLV athletic director Erick Harper announced.

Hebert, who spent four seasons leading the Las Vegas-based program, was named the Mountain West men’s golf coach of the year earlier this month after guiding UNLV to the conference tournament championship. Under his tenure, the Rebels also earned a third consecutive NCAA regional berth.

UNLV’s 2024-25 team made the school’s 23rd appearance at the NCAA Championship, the university said. Hebert came to Las Vegas after a lengthy stint as an assistant at the University of Texas.

“I want to thank JP for all of his hard work in returning our proud men’s golf program back to the national scene,” Harper said in a statement. “We wish him the best as he returns to his home state, and now we look forward to finding the next leader of one of the sport’s truly elite programs.”
