LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Aviators scored two runs in the ninth inning Sunday to defeat the Albuquerque Isotopes 6-5 and split their six-game series at Las Vegas Ballpark.
The Aviators improved to 26-23 and Albuquerque dropped to 28-23. A crowd of 4,412 attended the finale.
Albuquerque scored four runs in the ninth inning to take a 5-4 lead. Third baseman Tommy White hit an infield single to third base with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. The winning run scored on a throwing error by third baseman Nic Kent. The infield single extended White’s hitting streak to 16 games.
Aviators center fielder Cade Marlowe was 4-for-4 with a double, triple, walk, 2 RBI, stolen base and three runs scored. Designated hitter Michael Stefanic was 2-for-4 with a walk, RBI and run scored.
Albuquerque right-hander Ryan Feltner pitched 5.0 innings on a major league rehab assignment. He allowed 6 hits, 1 run, walked 1 and struck out 5 on 67 pitches.
Las Vegas left-hander Brady Basso pitched 3.0 shutout innings in the no decision. He allowed 1 hit, walked 1 and struck out 3.
Isotopes win slugfest Saturday
The Isotopes defeated the Aviators 13-11 Saturday before the fifth sellout crowd of the season of 8,258 on Star Wars Night. The game was the 109th all-time Las Vegas Ballpark sellout.
The game featured 24 runs and 31 hits.
Three Isotopes players recorded three-hit games. Catcher Andrew Knizer was 3-for-5 with two home runs and 3 RBI. Center fielder Cole Carrigg was 3-for-5 with a double, solo home run and two runs scored. Shortstop Nic Kent was 3-for-4 with a walk, home run, 2 RBI and three runs scored.
Las Vegas right-hander Joey Estes suffered the loss. He pitched 4.1 innings and allowed 12 hits, 11 runs, walked 2 and struck out 1 on 81 pitches.
Albuquerque right-hander Erasmo Ramirez pitched 3.0 innings in the no decision. He allowed 7 hits and 6 runs on 70 pitches.
The Aviators had five players record multiple-hit games. First baseman Joey Meneses was 3-for-4 with a double, home run, 4 RBI and three runs scored. Left fielder Jared Dickey was 3-for-4 with a double, home run, 2 RBI and three runs scored. Designated hitter Joshua Kuroda-Grauer was 2-for-5 with a double, RBI and two runs scored.
The Aviators will face the Tacoma Rainiers in a six-game series from Tuesday through Sunday.
