WASHINGTON DC (KOLO) – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto is introducing a bill seeking to preserve the ability of women to travel to access abortions.

She, Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Patty Murray (D-WA) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) re-introduced the Freedom to Travel for Health Care Act into the Senate.

The bill would block pro-life states and localities from limiting travel for abortion access and would allow women to bring civil cases against those states and jurisdictions.

“As we approach the anniversary of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade, it is critical that we remain vigilant against continued efforts to further roll back women’s reproductive freedoms,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “For women in states where abortion became illegal over the last four years, the right to travel for abortion care is a lifeline. We cannot stop pushing back against any attempts to limit this right and make women second-class citizens in America.”
