LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Seven months after a man drove through quiet neighborhoods smashing garage doors, one victim’s home remains damaged and exposed to critters.
Wooden planks have held up Ana Aleman’s garage since November. She cannot open or close the door, her car is trapped inside, and her home is exposed to animals.
“Every time I go to the garage, I’m afraid that an animal will be there,” Aleman said.
Chad Walker was arrested, charged, and sentenced for the rampage. Police said he targeted his girlfriend’s home first, then drove for miles hitting homes at random to cover his tracks.
“I mean, it’s been seven months living like this. I would like to have somebody make him responsible for this. It was not my fault. It was that guy’s fault,” Aleman said.

Victim unable to afford repairs
Aleman, 78, is a widow on a fixed income. She said she cannot afford the repairs or the insurance deductible, which would cost nearly $3,000.
“I don’t have money to fix it because actually I just have my social security. And my social security gets into that account and then goes out because I have to pay my bills,” she said.
Aleman was one of more than a dozen victims whose garages were destroyed.
Michelle Ellebracht’s security camera captured the wreckage after her garage was also hit. She and her husband noticed Aleman’s garage still had not been fixed.
“It’s sad that our neighbor, she can’t live in peace anymore,” Ellebracht said. “She barely even comes out of her house anymore.”
Aleman said she waits and prays for a solution.
“I don’t want to be rich. I just want to live in peace,” she said.
Walker was sentenced to up to five years in prison. According to court documents, Walker owes Aleman more than $3,500 and owes victims more than $45,000 in damages. It is unclear if any restitution will be paid.
