LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Motorists traveling along I-11/U.S. 95 should prepare for upcoming traffic changes.
The Nevada Department of Transportation says HOV lanes will be closed in both directions between Rancho Drive and Rainbow Boulevard through September.
The closures are part of NDOT’s I-11 SafeTech Corridor project, which covers a five-mile stretch of freeway between Summerlin Parkway and the Spaghetti Bowl interchange.
Officials say the project will deploy and evaluate emerging transportation technologies designed to support things like:
- Improving traffic flow and congestion management
- Fast incident detection and response
- Enhanced driver information systems
- Wrong-way driver detection and warning capabilities
- Expanded real-time traffic data collection and analysis
- Future Active Traffic Management strategies in Southern Nevada

NDOT says crews will install 12 wrong-way driver alert systems at six major interchange locations as part of the project. Officials say the technology is intended to improve freeway safety and help reduce the risk of wrong-way crashes.
Construction began June 1 and is expected to be substantially completed early next year. Active Traffic Management systems are scheduled to be installed in early 2028.
