LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — An 8-year-old was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle while crossing North Las Vegas Boulevard Sunday night.

The collision occurred at approximately 9:33 p.m. west of the intersection with North Lamb Boulevard. The juvenile was crossing outside of a marked or implied crosswalk, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

A 2011 Hyundai Elantra was traveling northbound on Las Vegas Boulevard when the juvenile crossed the vehicle’s path. The front of the Hyundai struck the child, propelling them onto the roadway.

Emergency Medical Services transported the juvenile to University Medical Center, where the child’s injuries were determined to be critical.

The Hyundai driver remained at the scene and did not display any signs of impairment, police said.

The collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Collision Investigation Section.
