LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A driver accused of street racing faces charges of reckless driving and child abuse after a crash in East Las Vegas Saturday left five people hospitalized, including a 4-year-old boy.
Metro Police identified the driver as Raudel Luna. An arrest report obtained by Fox 5 states Luna was “engaged in an unauthorized contest of speed with an unknown sports motorcycle, traveling at an extremely high rate of speed while on a public highway” prior to the collision near Lake Mead Boulevard and Walnut Road.

What the arrest report says
The arrest report states Luna was speeding into the intersection when a Nissan making a left turn was struck. Debris from the collision also hit a nearby parked car. Police included a photo in the arrest report they said shows Luna’s car racing a motorcycle before the crash.
The report further states that “Mr. Luna’s actions were the main cause of the collision that resulted in life-threatening injuries.”
Injuries
Luna and two passengers in his car — including the 4-year-old boy — were taken to the hospital with minor to serious injuries. The driver and a passenger of the Nissan were also hospitalized. The Nissan’s driver sustained life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses describe helping victims
Witnesses at the scene said they helped remove victims from the wreckage, including the child.
“My partner, he took the baby out at first. So, that was the first one that came out,” one witness said.
Another witness described helping additional victims from the vehicle.
“I kind of pushed him up a little bit, undid her seat belt and carried her out the same way she was sitting into the shade over there,” the witness said.
Witnesses also directed a message to drivers who street race.
“For those that are trying to race people, stop racing them with your family inside the car. That don’t make no sense. You’re putting them in jeopardy, mostly yourself, but mostly them,” a witness said.
Court status
Court records show Luna has posted bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for late July.
