LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — As Southern Nevada marks Independence Day and the nation’s upcoming 250th birthday, Sunrise Health System is shining a spotlight on some of its smallest patients.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) teams are celebrating the Fourth of July by dressing newborns in festive red, white and blue, according to the hospital. The tiny outfits have earned the babies an affectionate nickname: “little firecrackers.”

Beyond a fun holiday tradition, the photos highlight the round-the-clock work of NICU caregivers who support the region’s most fragile patients and their families every day, hospital officials add.
