LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Las Vegas police have arrested a driver in a hit-and-run crash that killed a skateboarder near North Oso Blanca Road, according to officials.

Elijah Malone, 26, of Las Vegas, was located on July 2 and arrested, then booked into the Clark County Detention Center on hit-and-run-related charges, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Police said the crash happened June 5 at about 2:37 p.m., after a witness called to report a body on the roadside north of the intersection of North Oso Blanca Road and West Montecito Pointe Drive.

Medical personnel pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene, according to police.

Investigators said a Ram pickup truck was traveling southbound on Oso Blanca Road when it struck a 28-year-old man who was riding a skateboard. The pedestrian was thrown south and landed on the east shoulder of the roadway, police said.

The driver and vehicle left the scene, authorities said.

Malone is expected to appear in court on Friday, July 3rd.
