HENDERSON (FOX5) — With summer temperatures soaring across the Las Vegas Valley, officials are reminding hikers that extreme heat can turn a routine outing into a dangerous situation.
According to the Henderson Fire Department, firefighters regularly train for trail rescues in challenging summer conditions, practicing the skills needed to reach injured or stranded hikers quickly when calls come in.
The department adds that training helps ensure first responders can operate safely and effectively during peak heat, when rescues can be especially demanding for both hikers and crews.
