LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A man is dead after being struck and beaten during a physical altercation in the central valley Thursday morning.
According to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, reports came in about an unresponsive man around 6:19 a.m. in the 900 block of East Sahara Avenue, near Maryland Parkway.
Responding officers and medical personnel located the man on the ground. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Detectives later learned the victim and a friend were waiting in line for a nearby business to open when a male approached the friend and began yelling at her.
The victim stepped in, and the male struck him in the face, causing him to fall to the ground. A second male then joined in, and the two continued to beat the victim until bystanders intervened.
Both suspects fled the area on foot before officers arrived. The identity of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
