LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Gov. Joe Lombardo joined volunteers and community leaders Tuesday in North Las Vegas for a joint service project dedicated to supporting military veterans and local food distribution efforts.
Housing provider AMH partnered with nonprofit organization Share Village to coordinate an extensive home rehabilitation alongside a community food drive.
Throughout the afternoon, volunteers packed and loaded grocery items destined for the Share Village food pantry, which provides emergency food assistance to local veterans and families.

The service project was staged at the residence of Vietnam War veteran Richard Moyer, who was surprised by a full-scale renovation effort that included exterior and interior painting, landscaping, deep cleaning and property repairs.
“I didn’t know it was really going to get this big. I just thought they were going to paint my house and that was going to be it, but no, it just got out of hand. So I’m still overwhelmed,” Moyer said.
Project organizers said the collaborative event was designed to demonstrate the impact of corporate and nonprofit partnerships in addressing the housing and daily living needs of Southern Nevada veterans.
