LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Clark County voted unanimously for an ordinance that would force street vendor stands to close at 9 p.m.

The ordinance also requires that vendors operate at least 500 feet away from parks and schools. The Nevada Resorts Association, Vegas Chamber and Henderson Chamber of Commerce all voiced support for regulations Tuesday.

Tuesday, Clark County approved an ordinance that limits locations and times for street vendors in the Las Vegas valley.

Convenience stores, food trucks and small restaurants also asked for fairness.

FOX5′s Jaclyn Schultz previously reported on the ordinance. Street vendors and some customers fought the ordinance as many rely on their earnings to feed their families, pay bills and for their overall livelihood.

However, traffic experts say cars and pedestrians cause dangers for children.

Under a state law passed earlier this year, every local government in the state must allow these vendors to operate legally and create a path for a license.

Public officials stood in front of the Clark County Government Center in response to the new ordinance for a press conference later that day. State Senator Fabian Doñate says that removing street vendors from parks has great consequences because most vendors are Latino and there is a strong connection between them.

Clark County provided a statement to FOX5:

Street vendors could apply for licenses starting April 30.
