LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – In a meeting on Wednesday, the Clark County School District Board of School Trustees selected a search firm to help the district find its next Superintendent.

CCSD selected Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates to “recommend a slate of qualified candidates for a new superintendent,” according to a media release from the district. CCSD previously said it would whittle its search down to a short list of potential firms before ultimately choosing one.

The firm, established in 1987, is based in Illinois and its website states that it offers an array of services to school districts, including superintendent searches, executive coaching and strategic planning, among others.

“We envision every school system to have effective leaders, definitive plans, and a focus on student outcomes to change the trajectory of a school system and ultimately a student’s life,” the firm says on its site.

After stripping new members of powers in January, the Clark County School District Board of Trustees has been ordered to restore that power.

The firm will negotiate with the CCSD Purchasing Department for a contract with the District to conduct a search for a new superintendent. The contract will be brought to the Board for approval in June.

The board recently approved a contract agreement for Dr. Brenda Larsen-Mitchell to continue serving as interim Superintendent while the search for a permanent successor to Dr. Jesus Jara continues.

On Wednesday, the board was also ordered by a judge to restore voting powers previously stripped from some board members.

CCSD told FOX5 the Board of Trustees is evaluating Judge Krall’s order and reviewing their options. The next regular board meeting is scheduled for June 13.
