The community was invited to safely dispose of old car and household batteries. Attendees could also take advantage of free car battery testing and entered for a chance to win prizes.
Organizers said disposing of old batteries in household trash poses a serious environmental hazard. Those batteries can expose chemicals into the ground, while car batteries can cause damage to garbage trucks when crushed.
AAA said it handled the disposal to ensure all batteries were recycled safely and responsibly. Members received mobile battery delivery, testing and diagnosis, and on-the-spot replacement and installation as part of their membership.
