LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Southern Nevada leaders held a first-of-its-kind luncheon Tuesday morning at the Orleans Hotel and Casino to address pressing issues facing the community, including a lack of affordable housing.
The event was hosted by the Southern Nevada Development Coalition, a group made up of leaders from the development, construction, housing, and real estate industries.

Coalition goals
The coalition’s goal is to work together to find solutions to several problems, including the lack of affordable housing in the area.
Leaders said the event is the start of a long-term push to make sure families can still afford to live and work in Southern Nevada.
Tina Frias, CEO of the Southern Nevada Home Builders Association, said, “Southern Nevada’s biggest challenges are interconnected. They cannot be resolved in a vacuum or with one organization acting alone. We are bringing together organizations from across the development industry to combine our expertise, identify shared priorities, and advocate for policies that strengthen Southern Nevada’s future.”
Sold-out turnout
The coalition said Tuesday’s sold-out event drew more than 600 attendees.
The coalition said it was a first step and promised more joint advocacy and public events as it pushes for more attainable housing and smarter growth.
