LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Clark County has extended an air quality dust advisory through Tuesday, as persistent winds from Arizona thunderstorms continue to push dust into Southern Nevada.
According to a release from the county’s Environment & Sustainability’s Division of Air Quality, the advisory is based on the amount of airborne dust being scattered around the valley.

People with heart or lung disease, older adults and children may be at greater risk from particulates, particularly when physically active, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
The EPA recommends those individuals stay indoors as much as possible under windy conditions. People with medical conditions that make them sensitive to air pollution should consult a physician.
Clark County’s Division of Air Quality offered the following guidance:
- Limit outdoor exertion on windy days when dust is in the air.
- Keep windows and doors closed.
- Run air conditioning indoors and in vehicles to filter out particulates.
- Consider changing indoor air filters if they are dirty.
- Avoid shortcuts across vacant lots.
- Drive slowly on unpaved roads to keep dust down.
- Ride off-road vehicles in approved areas outside the urban Las Vegas Valley.
Residents can report excessive blowing dust from construction sites, vacant lots or facilities by calling the county’s dust complaint hotline at 702-385-DUST (3878).
