LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A different type of kickoff coming just days before the stadium hosts one of the biggest sporting events in the world – the push to unionize workers at Allegiant gets underway Tuesday.
Culinary Workers Union Local 226 will join forces with the AFL-CIO, UNITE HERE, and the NFL Players Association to organize the stadium’s non-union workers. An announcement is planned for 10 Tuesday morning, and you can watch it here.
The local culinary and bartenders unions represent some 60,000 workers in Las Vegas and Reno. Its affiliate organization, UNITE HERE, represents 300,000 people in gaming, hotel, and food service in North America.
