LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — United Airlines says it’s working to return to normal operations after a tech issue caused delays.
Around 6 p.m. local time, a pop-up appeared on the airline’s website saying they held United mainline flights because of the technology issue.
“We expect additional flight delays this evening as we work through this issue,” officials say. “Safety is our top priority, and we’ll work with our customers to get them to their destinations.”
The airports affected were as follows, according to the airline’s website:
- Denver, CO, US (DEN)
- Newark, NJ/New York, NY, US (EWR)
- Frankfurt, DE (FRA)
- Guam, GU, US (GUM)
- Honolulu, HI, US (HNL)
- Washington, DC, US (IAD)
- Houston, TX, US (IAH)
- New York, NY, US (JFK)
- Los Angeles, CA, US (LAX)
- London, GB (LHR)
- Orlando, FL, US (MCO)
- Chicago, IL, US (ORD)
- San Francisco, CA, US (SFO)
United Airlines says they travelers could reschedule trips and they will waive change fees and fare differences.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration’s website, departure traffic to DEN, EWR, IAH and ORD will not be allowed until or after 7 p.m.
The airline says although the tech issue has been fixed, travelers could still experience residual delays.
“We are working with customers to get them to their destinations after a technology disruption on Wednesday evening,” officials said. “The underlying technology issue has been resolved, and, while we expect residual delays, our team is working to restore our normal operations.”
