KINGMAN, Ariz. (FOX5) — A Mohave County Sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a suspect accused of pointing a weapon at officers in Kingman on Saturday, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies responded around 12:38 p.m. to a business in the 6000 block of Minerva Lane, east of Kingman, in response to a call of an erratic driver who had damaged a gas pump at the business.

Deputies arrived on scene and made contact with the suspect. When advised he was under arrest, the suspect produced a weapon, which led a deputy to open fire.

The suspect later died at the scene, according to MCSO. No law enforcement personnel were injured during the incident.

A records check later revealed the suspect had an active arrest warrant out of New Mexico.

The investigation into the shooting is being conducted by the Kingman Police Department. The deputy involved has been placed on paid administrative leave.

The investigation is ongoing.
