LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Donations and supplies are pouring into Mesquite Animal Shelter, where medical staff are working to car for more than 100 dogs found and recovered from an RV Tuesday.

According to Mesquite Police Department, the shelter has received around $30,000 in donations and counting, alongside a lot of supplies. The shelter expressed Wednesday that taking in the dogs put a serious strain on their resources.

Police said that many of the dogs found required extensive medical attention, and several were discovered to be pregnant. The shelter asked for donations as they work to help provide medical treatment, nutrition and safe housing for all the dogs, and the puppies that were born following the seizure.

Giustino Laudando and Michelle Santos were both arrested on more than 100 counts of Animal Neglect and 8 counts of Animal Cruelty. Police say additional charges may be pending.

During Thursday’s hearing, a Mesquite Justice Court judge ruled that Laudando would remain in custody and set bail at $10,000. The judge also barred him from owning any animals.

Charges for Santos are still pending.

A spokesperson for the shelter told FOX5 Thursday morning that the shelter staff are still working through the legal process of determining ownership for the dogs, so a timeline on possible adoptions remains unclear. The spokesperson added that once ownership is determined, dogs deemed healthy and up-to-date on their vaccinations will become available for adoption.

Laudando is due back in court on Wednesday, June 3.
