RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – The Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health is warning of suspicious phone calls about medical records, benefits, or prescriptions.
They say in some cases, callers have falsely claimed that a person’s name was used for a prescription in another state, or that a person must visit an office, file a police report, or speak with someone posing as law enforcement.
Calls have been reported on both landlines and cell phones.
The DPBH says they will not contact people by phone to request medical records, discuss personal medical benefits, confirm prescription activity, or direct anyone to file a police report.
Anyone who receives a call of this nature is advised to hang up.
