NORTH LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — North Las Vegas firefighters recently responded to a fire involving an electric delivery vehicle, highlighting the unique hazards posed by electric vehicle fires.
Officials say lithium-ion batteries can take an extended time to cool, increasing the risk of reignition even after flames appear to be out.
EV fires can also release more than 100 different chemicals, including dangerous gases such as carbon monoxide and hydrogen cyanide, and in some cases may take hours, even days, to fully contain.

As electric vehicle technology continues to evolve, the North Las Vegas Fire Department says its crews are continuing to train and adapt to meet these challenges.
