LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A 55-plus community in Henderson called Mira has installed a Veterans Wall, a permanent display featuring photos of residents who served in every branch of the military.

City leaders said the wall serves as a daily reminder of military service and sacrifice, and as a way to recognize veterans living in the community.

Henderson City Councilwoman Carrie Cox said the display was built around resident participation.

“The wall has pictures of those residents that were willing to be able to have their picture up there on the wall to be honored,” Cox said. “It also recognizes all of the branches of service and really pays tribute to those that have served and sacrificed for our nation, and for our safety, for our peace, and for our freedoms.”

Veterans at the community said it is the first time they have seen this kind of permanent recognition where they live. They said they hope similar walls will be installed in communities across the valley.
