LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Brysen Kim has pleaded not guilty in the deadly shooting of his coworker in downtown Las Vegas.
Kim is accused of shooting and killing his co-worker, Joey McLean, following what police and city officials have described as a months-long dispute between two City of Las Vegas employees.
Las Vegas police said officers responded just after 6 a.m. June 12 to the 400 block of North 7th Street near Mesquite Avenue. Investigators have said the suspect called 911 and reported that he shot his co-worker.

The city previously identified the victim as McLean, a city maintenance worker employed since 2018. Kim, also a city maintenance worker, was identified by police as the suspect and taken into custody, officials said.
An arrest report previously obtained by FOX5 described witness accounts in which supervisors said they saw Kim punch McLean and continue kicking him before Kim pulled out a gun and fired, striking McLean. McLean later died from his injuries, according to police.
A Clark County grand jury later indicted Kim on murder and burglary charges in the case. The burglary charge alleges Kim entered a city building with a gun intending to commit battery, according to the indictment.
City records released after the shooting outlined a timeline of human resources complaints and disciplinary actions involving the two men in the months leading up to McLean’s death.
Kim is being held at the Clark County Detention Center pending the outcome of the case. His next court appearance is set for July 14.
