LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A Las Vegas man is facing multiple felony charges after reportedly firing a gun into an apartment occupied by children last fall.

According to a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department report, David Holmes Jr., 19, was arrested on Feb. 14 and faces over a dozen charges, including multiple counts of assault with a deadly weapon and discharging a gun where a person might be endangered.

On Oct. 30, 2023, Metro officers responded to the 5000 block of E. Russell Rd. in reference to a shooting at an apartment complex. Shortly after police were called, a victim suffering from a gunshot wound to her chest took herself to Henderson Hospital.

Police arrived on the scene of the shooting and found multiple individuals, including Holmes and a pair of other suspects—Brandon Haynes and Antoine Washington. Police learned that Haynes and Washington got into a “mutual gunfight” while Haynes was on the balcony of his second-floor apartment and Washington was in the parking lot.

Holmes told police that he was with his cousin, Washington, and a group of other people. He said that they drove to an apartment complex to “hang out” and were shot at. He denied that he or any of his friends were armed, and told police that the group did not shoot back after being fired upon.

A witness told investigators that Holmes was behind Washington when the shooting began and that both men fired their guns. Holmes allegedly threw his gun away while fleeing the scene in a vehicle.

Holmes completed an initial appearance in Clark County Justice Court on Feb. 21. His bond was set at $50,000 and he has a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 6.
