LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A cold case has been reopened and new charges have been filed against a Las Vegas pastor accused of killing his wife nearly two decades ago.
According to a release shared Tuesday by the Washington County Attorney’s Office, Las Vegas-based youth pastor David Vander Meer has been charged with murder and insurance fraud. He is accused of being responsible for his wife, Bernadette Vander Meer’s deadly fall at Angels Landing in Zion National Park on August 22, 2006.

On June 22, the U.S. Marshal’s Office assisted the Washington County Attorney’s Office in the apprehension of Vander Meer after a warrant was issued.
Investigators say the case was reopened after the Investigations Bureau of Washington County Attorney’s Office received a tip.
