LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Search and Rescue personnel aboard AIR1 rescued four hikers who became stranded overnight on a steep cliff band near Echo Wall on Mount Charleston, officials said.

The call came late Thursday night after search and rescue teams were notified that four hikers were “ledged out” after getting off trail and attempting to find their own way down. Officials said the group became stuck in a steep area and had no overnight provisions, minimal food and water, and only one flashlight among the four.

Around 5 a.m. Friday, June 19, AIR1 located the hikers. Officials said a rescuer was lowered to the scene by hoist to reach the group.

All four hikers were assessed and found to be in good spirits, and none were injured, officials said. The hikers were placed into hot seats and hoisted out in several evolutions.

The group was then transported to the U.S. Forest Service helipad and turned over to ground personnel, officials said.
