LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A major downtown Las Vegas intersection is set to close for about three weeks starting Monday, July 13, as crews install large underground box culverts as part of the Charleston Boulevard Storm Drain Project.
Casino Center Boulevard will be closed on the south side of Charleston Boulevard, restricting north and south travel, Las Vegas city officials said.
Charleston Boulevard will remain open with one lane of traffic in each direction, according to officials.
Work will run around the clock through July 19, then continue daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the following two weeks, officials said.

Motorists should expect delays. Oakey Boulevard and Bonneville Avenue are recommended alternate routes for east-west travel, said city officials.
Main Street and Las Vegas Boulevard are suggested for north-south travel.
Access to nearby residents and businesses will be maintained during construction, the city said.
After work at Casino Center Boulevard is complete, the project will move west with future intersection closures planned at Main Street and Commerce Street.
Officials said only one major intersection on Charleston Boulevard will be closed at a time.
The $49 million project is funded by the Clark County Regional Flood Control District, the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada and the city of Las Vegas.
The project to install storm drain infrastructure along Charleston Boulevard from Maryland Parkway to Commerce Street is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2027, the city said.
