LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Rainbow Club Casino remained closed throughout the day Friday as crews worked to repair a power outage.
The casino shut down Tuesday after an old power box was damaged by heavy rain. Employees waited outside for hours, hoping to get back to work. Residents stopped by and walked to the Emerald Casino to wait.
General Manager of Rainbow Club Casino and Emerald Casino, Tim Brooks, said they had hoped to re-open their doors to the public by Friday afternoon.
“We’ve been out of power for three days now we’ve been working diligently around the clock to get up and restore it,” Brooks said. “Sourcing parts has been somewhat of a problem for us. Not a big problem, but we have to go out and source parts for a 50-year-old building.”
One long-time regular of the Rainbow Club Casino, Kathy, was seen walking out of the Emerald Casino waiting for Rainbow to re-open their doors. She explained Rainbow holds a very special place in her heart.
“You had to hit my Rainbow of all places, because that’s my home, I mean, that’s my family over there, and it’s just always been that way,” she said.
As of Friday, there is still no word on when the Rainbow Club Casino will re-open.
Brooks added employees will be paid for the time they spent waiting Friday, and explained they were clocked in during that time.
