LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A Las Vegas man is in custody on Tuesday morning after returning to the scene of a deadly hit-and-run in the central valley.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the collision occurred on West Sahara Avenue, east of the intersection with Valley View Boulevard around 1:13 a.m. Police determined that a 34-year-old man was crossing Sahara Avenue outside a marked crosswalk, and was struck by a 2015 Nissan 3702 traveling eastbound through the intersection.
Medical personnel arrived and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
The Nissan fled the scene without providing any information but returned a few hours later and identified himself as Angelo Pascua, 29.
He was taken into custody and transported to Clark County Detention Center, where he was booked on a hit-and-run charge.
“The pedestrian’s death marked the 38th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction for the year 2024,” LVMPD noted in a release. “The collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section.”
The intersection has since reopened.
