LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A man is dead after being shot by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officers early Tuesday morning.

According to the department, dispatchers received a call around 12:40 A.M. to near Eastern Avenue and Sahara Avenue about a man with an edged weapon. When officers arrived, police said they tried to de-escalate the situation through various measures but the man refused to drop his weapon. He then started charging toward the officers with the weapon, which led officers to fire shots at him.

LVMPD said the man was taken to the hospital for medical treatment where he was pronounced dead. The department added that all officers involved are okay.

As of 4:00 A.M. Tuesday morning, Eastern Avenue is closed between Sahara and Karen avenues as the investigation continues.
