LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — More than 100 Nevada Army National Guard soldiers will head to Washington, D.C., next week to support public safety efforts during events marking the United States’ 250th birthday.
Officials said the deployment will not affect the state’s ability to respond to emergencies, noting that about 3% of Nevada’s guardsmen will be going to D.C.

They will join Guard members from more than 20 other states to assist during major public events tied to the 250th anniversary.
Guard leaders say the mission underscores the Nevada National Guard’s ability to quickly provide skilled personnel in response to national requests while maintaining readiness within the state.
