LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Newly released body camera footage obtained by the Associated Press shows Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo was pulled over by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on May 15 after an officer said he committed a red-light violation near Mandalay Bay.
In the video, a Metro sergeant approaches Lombardo’s vehicle and explains the reason for the stop: “The reason I’m stopping you is for the red light violation back there — your right turn onto Giles here.”
Lombardo identifies himself during the stop, saying, “I’m Joe Lombardo.” The sergeant responds, “I’m aware,” and then tells him, “You’re good to go, sir, appreciate you. Have a good day.”
It’s unclear whether Lombardo was issued a citation.
FOX5 has reached out to LVMPD and the governor’s office for comment but has not yet received a response.
