LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Clark County School District broke ground Monday on a replacement campus for Matt Kelly Elementary School, a school on the Historic Westside that has stood since 1960.
The new campus will be a two-story building constructed on the same plot as the original school.
The new building was designed with input from teachers, families, and community partners over a design process that spanned approximately three to four years, according to Matt Kelly Elementary School Principal Jerrell Hall.

“Matt Kelly was built in 1960 and has a long, deep, rich history right here in the heart of Historic Westside,” Hall said. “Today, we are breaking ground on an innovative, new campus that’s going to be more than these kids ever could dream of to help them meet their dreams for the future.”
The $76 million project is funded through CCSD’s 2015 Capital Improvement Program and is expected to open for the 2027-2028 school year.
