LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — There is still no cure for multiple sclerosis, and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society is looking to change that. The 10th annual Dinner for Champions at the Palms Casino was in full effect tonight with live music, food, and hope for a cure.
Paul Huether, a member of the board of trustees of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, says his connection to MS is close to home.
“My wife Denise has had Ms. for 40 years. So about 15 years ago, I said, ‘How do we try to raise money to help find a cure for MS?’”
The event has grown over the last 10 years from about 100 people to close to 350 people at tonight’s fundraiser. There was plenty of entertainment and incentives tonight, from live music to a silent auction with bid items like hockey tickets and Raider tickets.

Though lively and fun, Paul says it’s also an emotional night.
“Most people don’t even realize those who have MS. And it’s a disease that impacts about a million people nationwide and about 10,000 people here in Nevada. Sometimes, when you have an illness or a disease, you just don’t feel like you have any support. You don’t feel like there are people that care for you. And it’s important for us, and to support those suffering with MS, that there are people who care and are working hard to try to raise funds.”
In attendance this evening were Raiders owner Mark Davis and Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo.
