LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A longtime Clark County juvenile probation officer was arrested Tuesday on charges of sexual conduct with a minor in custody and child abuse.
Eddie Lee Wide, an employee of 31 years at Clark County Juvenile Justice Services, was taken into custody on April 22 at the Clark County Juvenile Hall, where he worked in the intake unit. He faces two counts of sexual conduct with a child under his supervision and one count of child abuse.

The arrest followed a report made by a juvenile detainee at the facility on April 21. The teen told mental health staff at the detention center that Wide had engaged in sexual conduct with him multiple times between January and April 2026.
Investigation details
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department detectives interviewed the teen, who described multiple encounters with Wide both inside and outside the detention facility. The teen said Wide contacted him through text messages and arranged meetings at various locations, including the parking lot of the juvenile hall and areas near the teen’s residence.
According to the arrest report, the teen told investigators Wide gave him money after the encounters and recorded some of the incidents on his cell phone. The teen said Wide warned him not to tell anyone about the meetings.
Detectives obtained surveillance video from the juvenile hall and a nearby grocery store that showed Wide’s vehicle and the teen at locations matching the teen’s account. The video from April 14 showed a black BMW arriving at the juvenile hall parking lot, remaining for approximately 23 minutes, and later appearing at a Smith’s grocery store, where the teen was seen exiting the vehicle.
Prior allegations
The teen had previously reported allegations against Wide in 2023, but those claims were investigated and deemed unsubstantiated at the time. The teen told detectives he was not believed during that earlier report.
John Munoz, director of Clark County Juvenile Justice Services, told investigators that department policy expressly prohibits personal relationships with current clients and that such violations are grounds for immediate termination. Munoz also disclosed that another juvenile had made a complaint against Wide in 2022.
Suspect interview
Wide was interviewed by detectives after his arrest. He acknowledged meeting with the teen on three occasions and giving him money, saying he was trying to help the teen with expenses. Wide initially denied any sexual contact, but later admitted the teen had grabbed his crotch during one encounter.
When confronted with specific allegations, Wide continued to deny most of the claims but acknowledged making “several bad decisions.”
Detectives executed search warrants on Wide’s vehicle, cell phones, and residence. Crime scene analysts recovered white towels from Wide’s BMW and eight electronic devices from his home.
Wide was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on two felony counts of sexual conduct with a child under supervision and one felony count of child abuse. Bail was set at $5,000 on each count.
