LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has released renderings of the new temple planned for northwest Las Vegas.

The Lone Mountain temple will be located southwest of Hickman Avenue between N. Grand Canyon Drive and Tee Pee Lane. Plans for the temple were announced in Oct. 2022 and this is the first time we are getting an idea of what the temple will look like.

“We feel both excited and blessed by the addition of another Temple in our Valley,” Elder Tom Thomas, a Las Vegas-area church leader, said. “We know that as our community grows, this new temple will make it easier for members to visit the temple more frequently. In our faith, we consider a temple to be The House of the Lord and this is where we go to dedicate ourselves to the teachings and example of Jesus Christ. These teachings inspire us to love and serve our neighbors, to focus on the importance of family and strive to contribute to the betterment of society.”

Las Vegas’ first temple, located near Sunrise Mountain, was built in 1989.

In the LDS religion, temples are considered the most sacred places on Earth. Temples host marriages and other sacred ceremonies. Prior to dedication, all members of the public will be invited inside the temple for tours.

A church representative said there are no finalized dates on groundbreaking or opening of the temple.
