LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A man killed his father in Las Vegas after waking up angry believing he was drugged and raped, an arrest report shows.
Las Vegas Metro Police said the incident happened north of the Strip Monday morning in the 1900 block of Rexford Drive. The suspect was identified as Carlos Magana, 32. He faces open murder.
Police said it was his sister who reported the scene. When officers arrived, they located her with blood on her hands, arms and legs. She said Magana was still inside the apartment.
Officers from the Downtown Area Command placed Magana into custody as he exited the home. Medical arrived and located the victim. He died at the scene.
Homicide detectives responded. Magana’s sister and her mother told officers the suspect has a history of violent behavior. The family believed he had schizophrenia but was never diagnosed or seen by a medical professional.
Magana’s sister said he was banging on walls and yelling about being “set up.” When his father checked on him, she said that’s when the stabbing happened.
During an interview with police, Magana said he woke up in the morning believing he was drugged and raped because his back hurt. He walked into the bathroom and became angry.
Carlos said he was confronted by his father after he punched the bathroom wall. He felt this was “disrespectful.”
Investigators found five stab wounds on the victim. He was transported to the Clark County Office of the Medical Examiner.
Magana was arrested for open murder with a deadly weapon and was transported to the Clark County Detention Center for booking.
