LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Las Vegas police have arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with a fatal shooting in a parking lot earlier this week.
Andrew Avalos was taken into custody Wednesday and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on charges of open murder with the use of a deadly weapon and prohibited person in possession of a firearm, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The shooting occurred Monday, Sept. 21, around 7 p.m. near the 4600 block of Grand Drive, in the area of Harmon Avenue and Koval Lane just east of the Las Vegas Strip.
Patrol officers responding to multiple reports of gunfire located an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds in a parking lot. Medical personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

According to homicide detectives, the victim and a male suspect had been involved in an argument. During the dispute, the suspect pulled out a handgun, shot the victim, and fled on foot prior to officers’ arrival.
Detectives later identified Avalos as the suspect.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity along with the official cause of death once next of kin have been notified.
