LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Police have released more information about what led up to a shooting in southeast Las Vegas that left two people dead and one man in custody Tuesday.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, officers arrested Alejandro Estrada after a deadly shooting at a Smith’s grocery store, located near Maryland Parkway near Silverado Ranch Blvd.
Surveillance video captured Estrada arriving at the store on foot and walking through the produce area before approaching the victims as they turned into aisle four, where police say he shot them multiple times, according to an arrest report.
Investigators described the victims as married and co-workers at the store.
Police also said Estrada previously had a relationship with the female victim that ended in 2021, and the two share two children.
Police said bystanders confronted Estrada near the pharmacy drive-thru, disarmed him and held him down until officers arrived and took him into custody.
The report says he had a Sig Sauer 1911 .45-caliber handgun with one round in the chamber, and a CZ Scorpion Evo3 9mm semi-automatic carbine in his backpack, along with numerous loaded magazines for both firearms.

The report also notes that about two weeks before the shooting, Estrada told his roommate the female victim was taking him to court for child support and that he feared going to jail for not paying.
The roommate told police Estrada then began making plans to move out and quit his job, started moving belongings out of the home, and said he wanted his son to have his televisions, the arrest report says. The roommate also said he knew Estrada owned firearms and kept them in his closet.
Estrada is being held at the Clark County Detention Center, facing several charges including aggravated stalking and open murder.
He is due in court Wednesday afternoon.
