LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Thurman Lowe has been identified as the suspect who stabbed a Metro K9 downtown last Friday, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says.

Lowe faces multiple felony charges including arson; assault on a protected person with a deadly weapon; resisting a public officer with a deadly weapon, not a firearm; torture/injure/poison/attempt to kill police animal and arrest of a fugitive from another state on a warrant.

Friday, police initially responded with fire personnel at 1215 S. Las Vegas Boulevard, south of Charleston around 1:08 p.m. to a barricaded person later identified as Lowe.

Police confirmed that the barricade was connected to a fire investigation.

The K9 was responding to a barricaded subject who set a fire in an apartment.

Just after 3 p.m., LVMPD posted on social media that one of their K9s, Enzo, was injured while responding. The K9 was airlifted to a local animal hospital.

The dog was transported to a nearby animal hospital for emergency surgery.

Saturday, police provided an update saying that Enzo feels better.

“Thanks again to all the skilled veterinarians who have been taking care of Enzo,” Metro said.
