LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — UNLV softball is racking up postseason honors, including the program’s first Mountain West pitcher of the year in nearly two decades.
Freshman Lauren Fettic was named Mountain West pitcher of the year, the first Rebel to win the award since 2007 and the first under head coach Kristie Fox.
Fettic led UNLV in league play with a 2.91 ERA, more than 86 innings pitched, 51 strikeouts, five complete games and a 9-3 record. All numbers rank near the top of the conference.

She and senior Keyanahh Chavez were both named first-team all-Mountain West, while senior Diamond Sefe and sophomore Mantha Hatzenbeller made the second team.
Chavez hit .457 in league play, Sefe batted just over .400, and Hatzenbeller led the Rebels with nine home runs and an .882 slugging percentage.
All four are first-time Mountain West honorees.
The Scarlet and Gray open the Mountain West Softball Championships Thursday night at 6 p.m., facing the winner of Nevada and Colorado State.
