LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Real estate giant VICI Properties and casino operator Caesars Entertainment are actively collaborating on a plan to build a state-of-the-art arena on the Las Vegas Strip to house a potential NBA expansion team, executives revealed.
During VICI’s Q2 2026 earnings call, President and Chief Operating Officer John Payne confirmed that the companies are designing a plan for a 50-acre parcel of land they co-own directly behind the Paris, Horseshoe, and Planet Hollywood resorts.

“I think everyone has seen in the news that the NBA is looking to put another team into Las Vegas,” Payne said during the call. “We own, in conjunction with our partner Caesars, and we’re working with them, 50 acres of land… and we are developing a plan with Caesars… to house the arena that could be built for the new NBA team.”
Payne noted that VICI is working closely with Sean McBurney, who oversees Caesars’ regional operations in Las Vegas, to bring the project to fruition.
The announcement comes just weeks after NBA Commissioner Adam Silver confirmed that “lots of parties” are actively competing for a Las Vegas expansion franchise, though the league has not yet officially announced a timeline for expansion.
