LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Volunteers are helping turn sterile hospital rooms into more comfortable, home-like spaces for kids at Sunrise Children’s Hospital.

On April 16, employees from the global real estate firm JLL teamed up with the nonprofit Once Upon a Room Las Vegas to transform four pediatric rooms.

They personalized each space for young patients facing long hospital stays, adding decor and special touches aimed at making the rooms feel less clinical and more like home.

Since launching at Sunrise Children’s Hospital in 2022, Once Upon a Room Las Vegas has served more than 450 families and redone nearly 300 rooms. The organization said the work helps reduce stress and support children’s mental well-being.

The makeovers are funded by donors and community partners. People who are interested in helping support Once Upon a Room, visit their website to learn more.

The Las Vegas project is part of JLL’s national Wave Across America initiative, which aims to remake more than 200 pediatric hospital rooms in 18 U.S. cities, bringing what they call a wave of kindness to children across the country.
